A group of faculty members from Yazd University visited the Yazd Combined Cycle Power Plant on Wednesday, June 13, with the aim of familiarizing themselves with cutting-edge technologies and the industrial capabilities of the facility.
The visit, organized by the Office of the Representative of the Supreme Leader at Yazd University, began with a warm welcome from Dr. Vahid Safdarkhani, Deputy for Engineering and Planning at the power plant. He provided the academics with a comprehensive overview of the plant’s operations, energy production cycles, and the advanced technologies employed.
Dr. Safdarkhani detailed the various stages of electricity generation at the complex, explaining the function of the gas and steam units as well as auxiliary systems. He emphasized the importance of using state-of-the-art technologies to boost efficiency and reduce emissions, and described how the synergy between different units leads to more optimal energy production.
During the tour, the participants visited key sections of the power plant, including the central control room, turbines, boilers, and other major equipment. By observing the engineering processes in action, they gained direct insight into the challenges and opportunities within Iran’s electricity industry.
This visit is considered an effective step toward strengthening collaboration between industry and academia, paving the way for joint research projects and the recruitment of talented university students into the power sector.
