Seyed Zabihollah Mousavi, a PhD student in Computer Science at Yazd University, has recently published three scientific papers in prestigious international journals. The papers were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Farshi, a faculty member of the Computer Science Department at the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences.
The first paper, titled “Enhanced Equilibrium Optimizer for High-Dimensional Feature Selection and UAV-Based Intrusion Detection System,” was published in the IEEE Internet of Things Journal, a Q1 JCR-ranked journal with an impact factor of 8.7. The authors of the paper are S. Z. Musawi, M. Farshi, S. Ebrahimi Mood, and A. Souri.
The second paper, titled “A Novel Binary Puma Optimization Algorithm for Feature Selection Problem,” was published in Cluster Computing, a Q1 JCR-ranked journal with an impact factor of 5.5. The paper appears in Volume 29, Article 755 (2026) and was co-authored by S. Z. Musawi, M. Farshi, and S. Ebrahimi Mood.
The third paper, titled “Diabetes Prediction Leveraging Various Feature Selection Techniques and Machine Learning Algorithms,” was published in Annals of Data Science, a Q1 SJR-ranked journal. The paper is the result of collaboration between S. Z. Musawi and M. Farshi.
In addition to the recent achievements of its current PhD student, Yazd University is also proud of the continued academic and research success of its graduates. Amir Namag Hassan, a former Master's student at Yazd University, is currently a faculty member at the University of Sulaimani and has published several research papers in Q1 international journals.
Among his research achievements are three papers focusing on optical nonlinearity, thermo-optic effects, all-optical modulation, and optical switching.
The first paper, titled “Eco-friendly virgin grape seed oil as a strong thermo-optic nonlinear medium for all-optical modulation and switching,” was published in Results in Physics, a Q1-ranked journal with an impact factor of 4.32. The paper was co-authored by A. N. Hassan and M. A. Haddad.
The second paper, titled “Exploring the thermal-induced optical nonlinearity of crude oil via spatial self-phase modulation technique,” was published in Scientific Reports, a Q1-ranked journal with an impact factor of 5.01. The authors are M. Golestanifar, M. A. Haddad, A. N. Hassan, and K. Pakravan.
The third paper, titled “Optical nonlinearity and all-optical switching in pumpkin seed oil based on the spatial cross-phase modulation (SXPM) technique,” was also published in Scientific Reports, a Q1-ranked journal with an impact factor of 5.01. The paper was co-authored by A. N. Hassan, M. A. Haddad, A. Behjat, and M. Golestanifar.
These achievements demonstrate the strong research performance of Yazd University’s current students and graduates and their contributions to international scientific research across diverse fields, including computer science, artificial intelligence, nonlinear optics, and optical technologies.
The Faculty of Mathematical Sciences at Yazd University congratulates Seyed Zabihollah Mousavi and his academic supervisor, Dr. Mohammad Farshi, on these scientific achievements. Yazd University also congratulates its graduate Amir Namag Hassan on his continued academic and research success and wishes both scholars further success in their scientific careers.
