In a generous and lasting contribution aimed at strengthening the research infrastructure of Yazd University, the valuable personal library of Dr. Hossein Mehrpour, a distinguished senior professor of the Faculty of Law at Shahid Beheshti University, has been donated to Yazd University and made available to the country’s academic community.
Following efforts by the President of Yazd University to preserve the country’s academic heritage and expand research capacities, the unique collection of approximately 3,000 specialized and reference books has been transferred to the Endowed Library of Law and Criminal Sciences at the Faculty of Law, Political Science and History of Yazd University.
Dr. Gholamreza Yavari, Director of the Central Library and Publications of Yazd University, said the collection represents a valuable body of primary and specialized sources in law, jurisprudence and comparative law, political science, and interdisciplinary studies.
He described the initiative as more than a book donation, calling it a distinguished example of connecting the academic heritage and intellectual capital of prominent scholars with major universities outside the country’s capital.
Dr. Yavari also highlighted the support and follow-up of the university’s management in facilitating the transfer and preparation of the collection, noting that these efforts will help preserve and ensure the effective use of this valuable academic heritage.
According to Dr. Yavari, the collection will not only meet the research and study needs of a new generation of scholars and faculty members in the region, but can also serve as an inspiring model for promoting the tradition of donating scholars’ personal libraries to universities and academic institutions.
The generous contribution by Dr. Hossein Mehrpour, recognized as one of Iran’s prominent legal scholars, is regarded as a strategic step toward decentralizing academic resources and strengthening the research capacity of higher education institutions across the country.
