According to the International Scientific Cooperation Office (ISCO) at Yazd University, the session aimed to explore water resources management from various perspectives, including historical, political, cultural, and social aspects. The event hosted experts and enthusiasts in the field of "Water, Peace, and Resilience" at the International Center for Qanat and Historical Hydraulic Structures.
Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Javadian Zadeh, Director of the International Center for Qanat and Historical Hydraulic Structures, opened the session with an introduction to the Center and its focus on water efficiency.
Dr. Ali Mirvakili, Director of ISCO at Yazd University,
followed by presenting the university and its international services.
Dr. Aliakbar Tashakori, a faculty member of the Department of Law and Political Sciences at Yazd University, delivered a presentation on the historical context of Yazd and its successful approach to water management, peace, and resilience. He highlighted the strategic location of Yazd on trade routes and the strong work ethic of the local population as key factors contributing to the region's progress in qanat development, industry, and commerce.
Professor Janos Bogardi, former Rector of the United Nations
University in Europe, served as the special guest speaker. His presentation
addressed the issue of transboundary water governance at the global and
regional levels, providing concrete examples and emphasizing the importance of
global peace for sustainable development across various sectors.
The session concluded with a discussion focused on identifying solutions to current challenges and problems within the discussed fields.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Elham Elhambakhsh, a faculty member of the Department of Language and Literature at Yazd University, provided crucial support by simultaneously translating Professor Bogardi's speech for the audience.
