Iraqi Poet Najat Abdullah Attends Doctoral Dissertation Defense at Yazd University
Yazd, Iran - A doctoral dissertation defense was held at Yazd University, focusing on the poetic works of contemporary Iraqi poet Najat Abdullah. The dissertation, titled "A Study of the Themes and Motifs in Najat Abdullah's Poems Based on Reception Theory," was presented by Mohsen Gholam Hossein Kahouri, a doctoral student in Arabic language and literature.

The defense session was attended by Najat Abdullah herself, adding a significant dimension to the event. The dissertation examined the "flash poems" (Wamdah) from ten published collections of Abdullah's poetry.

The academic panel overseeing the defense included Dr. Nasrallah, Dr. Afkhami (supervisor), Dr. Bayanlou, Dr. Ravanshad (advisors), Dr. Ghaderi (internal examiner), and external examiners Dr. Mir Ghaderi and Dr. Kiani from Shiraz University. A number of faculty members and students from the faculty were also present.

"Flash poetry" (Wamdah) is a form of short poetry that expresses a fleeting emotion or inspiration in a concise and impactful manner. In Persian, the closest equivalent is "poetry of moments."

Following the defense, a session titled "The Status of Contemporary Arabic Poetry in Iraq" was held with Najat Abdullah and members of the Arabic language and literature department at the Yazd University guest house. This session was organized through the efforts of Dr. Afkhami.
