The Civil Engineering Department at Yazd University was founded in 1988. Initially offering a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, the department has expanded its academic programs to include Master's degrees in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering.

To support research and education, the department has invested in state-of-the-art laboratory equipment. This equipment, sourced from reputable international companies, has been instrumental in conducting experiments and projects. The department is currently expanding its facilities to accommodate the needs of Ph.D. students in Structural Engineering, including the construction of a specialized structural laboratory.

The department's faculty consists of 20 full-time members and 4 scholarship holders. This dedicated team is committed to teaching, research, and service. To foster knowledge exchange and enhance its academic offerings, the department actively seeks collaborations with other universities. A recent memorandum of understanding with Amirkabir University of Technology has paved the way for the establishment of a Ph.D. program in Civil Engineering.
