The Faculty of Civil Engineering at Yazd University is equipped with advanced laboratories and workshops that integrate theoretical knowledge with practical skills. These facilities play a vital role in research, education, and industry-oriented projects.

1. Water Research Laboratory

This laboratory is dedicated to the study of surface and subsurface flows, analysis of hydraulic structures, and examination of precipitation and runoff processes. 

Key Equipment:

- Flumes for flow simulation and measurement in open channels

- Rainfall simulator for studying soil erosion, runoff, and flood control structures 

Research Focus: Water resources engineering, hydraulic structures, and environmental engineering.

2. Fluid Mechanics Laboratory

This laboratory focuses on teaching and analyzing fundamental concepts of fluid flow and their engineering applications in the design of hydraulic and industrial equipment. 

Key Equipment:

- Educational hydraulic benches

- Variable speed pumps

- Pressure and flow rate measurement systems 

Activities: Observation and analysis of flow patterns, energy losses, and fluid behavior under various conditions.

3. Civil Engineering Workshop

The workshop provides a practical environment for students to become familiar with real construction processes and improve their technical skills. 

Key Equipment:

- Rebar cutting and bending machines

- Concrete vibrators

- Concrete mixers

- Various measuring and testing tools 

Purpose: Hands-on experience in execution of civil engineering projects.

4. Road Pavement Laboratory

This laboratory is dedicated to evaluating the mechanical properties and durability of pavement materials and improving the quality and service life of roads. 

Key Equipment:

- Marshall compaction apparatus

- Asphalt wheel tracker

- Bitumen and aggregate testing equipment

- Universal Testing Machine (UTM) for dynamic modulus, fatigue, and creep tests 

Research Focus: Asphalt mix design, pavement optimization, and road materials.

5. Structural Engineering Laboratory

This laboratory is designed to investigate the behavior of structures under various loading conditions (static, dynamic, and seismic). 

Key Equipment:

- Concrete compression, tension, and bending testing machines

- Durability testing devices (water penetration, freeze-thaw cycles)

- Powerful actuators for controlled loading 

Research Focus: Non-linear structural behavior, seismic performance, and structural retrofitting.

6. Soil Mechanics Laboratory

This laboratory is equipped for studying the engineering behavior of soils and determining geotechnical properties. 

Key Equipment:

- Direct shear apparatus

- Unconfined compression tester

- Triaxial compression testing system

- Other routine geotechnical testing devices 

Research Focus: Soil strength, stress-strain behavior, and foundation engineering.

7. Concrete Technology & Building Materials Laboratory

This laboratory focuses on the mechanical properties, durability, and quality control of concrete and construction materials. 

Key Equipment:

- Slump test apparatus

- Autoclave

- Standard molds

- Compression and tensile strength testing machines 

Research Focus: Mix design optimization, innovative concretes, and material durability.
