History

The Department of Chemical and Polymer Engineering was established in October 2013 (Mehr 1392) as part of Yazd University’s commitment to expanding engineering education and responding to the needs of the nation’s industrial sectors.

From its inception, the department was strengthened by the recruitment of experienced faculty members from leading Iranian universities, including Malek Ashtar University of Technology, the University of Tehran, and Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman. Their expertise laid the foundation for the department’s academic and research growth.

Beginning with undergraduate education, the department gradually expanded its academic offerings and research activities. Over the years, it has developed into a dynamic educational and research center, introducing graduate programs in Chemical Engineering and Polymer Engineering while continuously enhancing its laboratory and research facilities.

Today, the Department of Chemical and Polymer Engineering is recognized as one of the prominent and growing departments at Yazd University. Through its commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and industrial collaboration, the department continues to contribute to the advancement of engineering education and the development of the chemical and polymer industries.
