History of the Department
The Department of Industrial Engineering at Yazd University was established in 1991 as one of the subunits of the Faculty of Engineering. It commenced its activities in the field of industrial production in the Bachelor's degree program in 1991 with 25 students and 3 faculty members. The department started accepting students in the Master's degree program with a focus on System Management and Productivity in 2001 and in the Master's degree program with a focus on Industrial Engineering in 2009. In 2015, the department began accepting students in the field of Economic and Social Systems Engineering and in 2020, in the field of Project Management. The Department of Industrial Engineering admitted its first doctoral students in the field of System Management and Productivity in 2007 and in the field of Industrial Engineering in 2012.
The department consists of three sections: Optimization, System Analysis, and Quality and Productivity. The doctoral program offers specializations in System Optimization and Supply Chain Management, while the Master's program offers specializations in System Optimization, Large Systems, Project Management, and Engineering Management.
The department's scientific research journal is currently in the final approval stage at the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. Additionally, the department has organized the second and fifteenth Industrial Engineering Conference in February 2003 and 2018, respectively, and the fifteenth National Student Industrial Engineering Conference in December 2017.
