The Faculty of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering at Yazd University is home each year to great minds who have dedicated themselves to the fields of human activity, mining, metallurgy, and petroleum. Accordingly, the education and training of specialists in Mining engineering, Metallurgy engineering, and Petroleum engineering, with the aim of transforming the mining industry, metallurgy, and oil industry, as well as addressing the extensive needs of the industrial, mining, and upstream oil sectors, have always been primary goals of this faculty. Alongside admitting talented students nationwide, this faculty currently accepts international students at undergraduate and graduate levels from various countries.

To make research activities more applicable in addressing national needs and mining complexes, the Mining Technologies Research Institute, which has received definitive approval from the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, is actively working with three research groups: Mineral processing, Coal technologies, and Iron ore technologies. Additionally, due to the importance of promoting the latest scientific findings in scientific and industrial communities and establishing a bridge of communication between scientific and research centers, this faculty has been publishing the scientific research journal "Analytical and Numerical Methods in Mining Engineering" since 2010, with a vision to lead the production of scientific content in the field of mining engineering and related disciplines. The journal has been accepted as a Scopus-indexed journal since 2024.
