School of Arts & Architecture of Yazd University is one of the top faculties nationwide. It was established in 1989 in the historical area of Yazd city. The campus was started with the dedication of "Rasoolian House" and "Mortaz House". At the beginning, the School of Arts and Architecture was offering graduate program for the (continuous) Master of Architecture (MA). Since then, the campus buildings have reached the number of 17. The purpose of choosing this area as the School of Arts and Architecture was providing the opportunity for students to have a direct connection with valuable history, culture and art of vernacular architecture. In a plan to expand its activities, the School began offering a choice of studies in three fields: Architecture, Visual Arts and Urban Planning in which the students are trained in Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. On average, the Faculty annually accepts about 120 Bachelor's, 85 Master's and 4 Ph.D. students in Architecture, Energy and Architecture, Architectural Conservation and Restoration, Urban Engineering, Urban Planning, Urban Design, Regional Planning as well as Painting and Visual communication. School of Arts and Architecture has more than 30 full time faculty members with different up-to-date research interests and a total of 930 full time students.
