In human life, soil and water play essential roles in the social stability, economic and political lives of communities. Therefore, it is important to know the water and soil resources, to conserve and utilize them properly, and to properly manage these resources for planning and advancing agricultural and natural resources. Department of Rangeland and watershed management has been established with the aim of training experts in the management of watersheds of the country. The occurrence of destructive floods and severe erosion of land due to improper utilization of available resources necessitates comprehensive and systematic management of various land uses. On the other hand, due to the increasing need of protein resources in the country and considering that the economic situation and livelihood of the villagers and tribes of the country is directly related to rangelands, it is necessary to train specialists who, while using native experience, apply appropriate technologies and contemporary science in management of rangelands of the country and while respecting the principles of sustainable development and conservation of the main water and soil resources, increase the efficiency of forage production and other multiple uses of rangelands.
